As a member of MDA Team Momentum, I’m dedicating my miles, muscles and personal finish line to helping kids and adults living with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related muscle-debilitating diseases live longer and grow stronger.
This race is for Henry, who has motivated me on many runs with his adorable smile, fighting spirit and his parents dedication to finding a cure for their son. I run so that Henry can grow up in a world without muscle disease.
This race is for Dahlia, who deserves the world and never ceases to amaze me with her endless knowledge, "go with the flow" attitude and her ability to constantly make others smile. Dahlia can make others smile easily, but FSHD has stolen her ability to smile, and I run so one day we can smile together.
This race is for Gabbie, who is so sweet, artistic and creative. Her giggle makes my heart melt and her manners at camp could impress the queen. Gabbie's pure excitement at being able to stand on her own briefly in the pool both warmed my heart and broke it. I run so that she can rejoice over being able to stand on her own outside the pool.
This race is for Bryce, whose love of sports is contagious and who can strike up a conversation with anyone with ease. Bryce and his family were the first people I met after I started volunteering with MDA. I run so that he can play sports on the same team as his peers.
This race is for Charlie, who cracks me up with his jokes and loving hugs. He never fails to make me smile and seeing his love of Summer Camp each year is something I cherish. I run so that Charlie can regain the physical strength he has lost.
Every step I take while training for and racing in the 2017 Bank of America Chicago Marathon will help MDA fund groundbreaking research to accelerate treatments and cures and provide care and support for families who are counting on us.
This is where you come in. Your donation will help save and improve the lives of individuals with muscular dystrophy and the families who love them. Thanks in part to MDA Team Momentum participants and donors, MDA anticipates more new treatments in development during the next five years than in the previous five decades combined. Let’s keep and build this momentum.
Please consider making a donation to support me in my upcoming race today. Thank you in advance for your support!
