I'm participating in the MDA Muscle Walk and I need your help!
I'm walking in the MDA Muscle Walk this year because My name is Diana Harvey and I am 35 years old. I was 18 months old when was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2, Muscular Dystrophy. My parents were told I wouldn't live past my 5th birthday and I should be put in a home. I'm thankful my parents didn't listen, My parents raised me as "normal" (whatever normal is) as possible. I was treated the same as my younger sister and brother, they never treated me as there poor disabled child. Because of my family's support I was able to do a lot of things that doctors didn't think I would be able to do, like living on my own in an independent living apartment. And now I'm living with the love of my life who supports me and cares for me as my family did. As a child I got the chance to be the MDA Poster Child. And because of MDA I was able to go to summer camp from age 5 to 21. Summer camp gave me the chance to forget about my disability, the surgeries I had to have and being sick in the hospital. And gave me the chance just to be a kid. I am doing the Muscle Walk to help raise money so other children can enjoy camp as I did. I also want to raise money for a cure.
