The guy in that picture is SAM and he was one of my BEST FRIENDS EVER.
Sam suffered from Muscular Dystrophy all his life, but in all the years that I've known him, I have never heard Sam complain...not once! Instead, Sam remained a true, light-hearted, loving, giving, hilarious, honest, and genuine individual. If you can't tell from the photo, Sam also liked to stick fingers up noses. Sometimes his own, but most of the time, yours. Especially if you weren't paying attention.
This past November, Sam passed away unexpectedly. He was 28 years old. There are two ways I am doing my best to honor his memory: firstly, by being a better person and always remembering to value the life and opportunities we are given. Secondly, by participating in the Muscle Walk this February to raise awareness about Muscular Dystrophy and support research towards treatments and cures.
