Welcome to my Muscle Walk Personal Fundraising page!
It is not only an honor but a privilege to have been given an opportunity to be a team captain in this years MDA Muscle Walk. I am so excited to have the chance to give back to an organization that has given to my family for 30 + years and continues to each day. My sister, Vaness Sue Renfro Burleson, was born September 30, 1982 with a nueromuscular disease called Myastenia Gravis. She was a fighter from the beginning. Although, I did not come into the picture until 1990 I have been told story after story of the generosity and support MDA gave not only my parents but my sister as well. Being a mother, I could never imagine having to set down and be told that my child had a disease that woud limit her the rest of her life. MDA made sure they were there from the beginning. They provided support groups, clinics, literature, equipment, summer camps (which my sister enjoyed more then anything) and many more things that were never expected. My sister was my inspiration and was the reason I never gave up. She showed me that all things were possible. She was the mother of four beautiful children even when told she was not going to be able to bare a child....My family and I want to give back for all that MDA has done for our family as well as give more for the children we hold near and dear to our hearts. I myself have had the privilege to volunteer at the summer camp held in Ceta Canyon every summer since 2001 and it is such a humbling experience. The kids mean so much to me and make life that much more meaningful. They show you things you would never even think of. They get to be around kids that are on the same pace as them for an entire week and not worry about being made fun of, or having to keep up, and it is all made possible because of MDA. Your money goes to things like that and so much more. I wish I could discribe it all but it impossible. I attached a clip to my page so you can at least see a little of what I experience at camp. Thank you for taking the time to read my page.
