I'm Participating in the MDA Muscle Walk!

I'm participating in the MDA Muscle Walk and I need your help!

I'm walking in the MDA Muscle Walk this year because I want to do something meaningful and I hope to have your support. I chose MDA because of all the incredible things they do for the families they serve in our community.

But for me, it goes deeper than that.  For me, this effort is a deeply personal one, and one I undertake in honor of my friend Travis who recently passed away due to complications from MD.  You can read all about his story here: http://www.dreamforadollar.org/site/traviss-story/

My friend Travis was an amazing person, an amazing friend, and someone I and many who knew him admired very much.  Rather than treating each day as a struggle or some sort of arduous slog, he treated each day as a gift, and vowed each morning to enjoy each day to its fullest.  His zeal and enthusiasm were contagious, and his smile tended to be infectious.  I think what I miss most about my friend is just sitting and talking, and sharing philosophical thoughts on life with him.  Travis was very smart, loved to read and write books, and had a great heart.  I miss him very much.

Travis had Becker's Muscular Dystrophy, which meant he had progressively worsening weakness in his legs throughout his childhood, until he finally required the use of a wheelchair full-time.  Although Travis has left us, there are many more children and young adults that still have Becker's and need someone's help.  Frequently people forget or simply do not realize how expensive such a condition can be for the family of someone that is affected.  Things like physical therapy, wheelchairs, customized living spaces and modified vans cost a great deal, and every little bit helps.  Most importantly, your donation also funds research into finding a cure for this condition once and for all.

So please, check the site link above and check out the MDA.org site.  See that, with just a bit of help from a large number of people, a significant difference can be made in someone's life.  Someone could get physical therapy, a new wheelchair, or a van and a big dose of freedom, all from your donations.  I can't think of a better use for a few dollars.  All of the money you help me raise will go specifically toward helping people with Becker's Muscular Dystrophy, people just like my friend Travis.

Make your muscles work for something good. Please sponsor my effort with a donation.  I have set a modest goal for my efforts but don't think we cannot exceed that goal if it's possible!  But donate only what you can.  Like I said, every little bit helps.

Make a Muscle. Make a Difference.
