Last summer an amazing dad, father-in-law and friend, Dana Smith, was diagnosed with ALS also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Currently there is no cure or treatment for ALS. My father's doctor, Dr. Stanley Appel, has been working tirelessly for over 40 years to develop a cure and better treatment options for this deplorable disease. Dr. Appel went before Congress in 2009 to ask for additional government funding to find a cure stating, "ALS is not an incurable disease. It is an underfunded disease."
The MDA's ALS division is a source of hope, advocacy and fundraising for those with ALS. We will be participating in the MDA Muscle Walk in Austin on February 22nd to make a difference. All funds that our team raises will go directly to ALS research. Help us make a difference!
