Welcome to my MuscleWalk for MDA and ALS Fundraising page!
As you may know, my friend Bonnie McClinton has been diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord which affects muscle function. The motor neurons control the movement of various muscles including the diaphragm which controls our ability to breathe. In ALS, the various muscle cells waste away resulting in increased muscle weakness which ultimately makes it impossible to control normal muscle function. The average life expectancy of someone with ALS is 3-5 years after diagnosis.
As you can imagine, I would do anything to stop this disease in its track for Bonnie. Before she was diagnosed, I knew little if anything about ALS. Now I have made it one of my life goals to raise funds to continue research to not only find the causes of ALS but to also develop meds to significantly extend the life expectancy and quality of life of ALS sufferers and to ultimately cure this awful disease.
Help me cross the Muscle Walk finish line and FINISH STRONG! Join me at the Muscle Walk and we?ll have a great time for a great cause. Better yet, make a donation today, and help me reach my fundraising goal to help support the families who depend upon organizations like the MDA. Together, we grow stronger.
