Walking for my Wonderful cousins: Nicole and Patrick Cua

Welcome to my Muscle Walk Personal Fundraising page!

2001 was an unforgettable year for my family, particularly my younger cousins, Nicole and Patrick Cua.  After noticing a chronic limp in both of them, my Uncle Eddie and Auntie Grace were sadly given the news of both Nicole and Patrick being diagonosed with Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy (LGMD), primarily a disorder of voluntary muscles used to move the limbs, neck, hip, shoulders, trunk and other parts of the body. Over time, muscle weakness and atrophy lead to limited mobility and an inability to raise the arms above the shoulders.  In other words, my cousins' muscles in their hips and shoulders die out rapidly over time.  Their condition was only worsened (mentally, emotionally, and spiritually) when months after their diagnosis, the attacks of 9/11 began, taking their mother, my Auntie Grace, away from them forever.

These past 11 years have been a struggle, but after seeing the fighting spirit in both of them, I know that they can overcome these handicaps and eventually receive a cure.

So I ask all of you...Help me cross the Muscle Walk finish line and FINISH STRONG for Nicole and Patrick!  Join me at the Muscle Walk and we?ll have a great time for a great cause. Please make a donation today, and help me reach my fundraising goal to help support the my family and the other families who depend on MDA. Together, we grow stronger and closer to that cure.
