Welcome to my Muscle Walk Personal Fundraising page!
My son Reese has been diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy two years ago. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a life threatening disease that doesn't allow the muscles to fully produce the protein dystrophin. Currently there is not a cure. However, with your help we can fund scientific research, give the children a chance of going to camp, support the medical team, along with giving Reese the gift of hope. Reese is strong in spirit and never gives up. He is seven years old and has dreams, hopes, and a plan for his future.
February 20, 2014 Reese went to Texas Childrens Hospital to be screened for a drug study. The drug Ataluren is in the final phase (phase 3) of testing. Reese is qualifying for this drug study. In the 2nd phase of the study, low doeses showed a slight decrease in muscle deterioration. The MDA gave a large donation to make this drug study possible for Reese and others with his particular type of DMD. He will be one of 220 boys around the world participating. If we can stop the progression now, we will save the use of his arms, ability to sit up right, and whats left of his walking ability. Oh what a joy it would be to see him graduate college, learn to drive a car, have his first kiss, get married, and have a normal life without before too much damage is done to his muscles.
Help me cross the Muscle Walk finish line and FINISH STRONG! Join me at the Muscle Walk and we'll have a great time for a great cause. Better yet, make a donation today, and help me reach my fundraising goal to help support the families who depend on MDA. Together, we grow stronger. Together, we can change the life of Reese Angelo Horn.
