Many of you know that my dad recently passed away. As a member of MDA Team Momentum, I’m dedicating my race in honor of my father's memory. What you may not know is that he was a true decorated Marine War Hero, and the recipient of:
- Two Purple Hearts
- American Defense Medal with a Bronze Star
- American Campaign Medal with a Bronze star
- Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars
- WW II Victory Medal
- Combat Action Ribbon
- Marine Corp Good Conduct Ribon
- Presidential Citation Ribbon awarded for extraordinary heroism
Your support in honor of his service to our country will fund groundbreaking research to accelerate treatments, cures, and provide care and support to help save and improve the lives of individuals with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and neurological disease. While we are running, every step of the way I will be thinking about how I take for granted my ability to run, and how muscular dystrophy prevents many from doing so.
My dad was truly an ambassador of a generation that fought for the freedom that we now hold so dear. He would be so proud that my daughter Casey (racing the marathon) and I (racing the 10K) are running in the Marine Corps Marathon in support of MDA!
Thank you for your support in memory of my father. It is greatly appreciated!
