Dear Family and Friends,
WHAT: 42nd Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2019! This will be my 4th Chicago Marathon (6th overall!) and 2nd year raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Team Momentum! As a member of MDA Team Momentum, I’m dedicating my miles, muscles and personal finish line to helping kids and adults living with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related muscle-debilitating diseases live longer and grow stronger.
WHERE: Reykjavik, Iceland. The course runs through 29 Chicago neighborhoods and you are invited to come see me if it runs near you! Or if you want to experience the insane energy of the crowds!
WHEN: Sunday, October 13, 2019. Wave 3 (the turtle wave) starts ~8:30am. Participant tracking is available to keep track of me throughout and I can also share my location via phone with you should you ask! It’s much more accurate and up to date (but reception can be tricky in the busier sections of the course).
HOW: Some weirdos just love running, so they decided to host annual 26.2 mile races for the hell of it. This is one of the bigger events worldwide (~45,000 runners! ~2 million spectators!) and such a privilege to be a part of!
WHY: I saw a sign when I was running my first ever half marathon in 2015 that said “13.1 miles: Because you’re only half crazy!” And I thought, but I’m fully crazy so I need my races to be on my level. Pretty much, that’s the reason why.
HELP ME, I’M POOR: Check out my fundraising page to donate to the Muscular Dystrophy Association AND/OR leave me a message!! I will be printing out every message and carrying them with me during the race for encouragement! Send this on to anyone you might know who may like to donate and/or wish me luck. And remember, you are STRONGER than you know, BRAVER than you believe, and SMARTER than you think you are.
